United 93

So last night Dan and I stayed up WAY past our bed time to watch United 93 which we recorded off of TBS so it was edited. I am not the kind of person that likes to watch movies that "open" our eyes to the world around us. I want to watch a feel good movie. I know that sounds so naive. I obviously knew this was not going to be a feel good movie, but anything with 9/11 (I am sure like a lot of people) just strikes my interest. I really liked they way they filmed this movie, it is more like you are a part of the movie. You don't get attached to any characters and the plot(which we already know before hand) is not handed to you, you have to figure it out. This movie totally got to me. The emotion was so high the entire time, I even started sweating at one point. It was one of those shows that I want to talk about over and over again with anyone that will listen. It makes you have such strong feelings for the people that preformed such horrific acts of violence. I understand that they believe it to be a religious act and for God. But I can't understand why anyone thinks they have the right to take away ANY ones life. I honestly believe that on all the planes, if the passengers would have know their fate they would have done the exact same as United 93. Wow, it just makes me so proud to be an American! I did not even realize today was 9/11. So many people died on that day. So many hearts were torn. I think the world will never be the same after the events of that day. Can you remember were you were and how you felt? I remember getting ready for school that morning and mom called me into her bedroom where she was watching the news. "Holly, you have to see this a plane just crashed into the World Trade Center!" As I sat on the bed to watch the replay on TV, she yelled "Oh, MY GOSH, Holly! That wasn't a replay! I think that was another plane that went into the other tower!" I can remember that day SO clearly! I remember going to Institute and watching it on TV all day. Coming home with the entire family just glued to the tube, we couldn't get enough information, we wanted to know more! Such a gloomy and sorrowful day. They had a moment of silence for all the lives lost that day. I just want to make sure all the families that were hurt that day have not been forgotten. I know that I will remember this event for the rest of my life no matter how bad I want to forget. I might have just totally went off on a tangent, but it is something that burns in my memory forever.

More Hayden

Okay until Mom gets down a few sizes this blog will only have pictures of my two handsome men! Like anyone that comes to visit us, the first place we take them to is Handels. I already love ice cream but Handels is the best, they actually have quite a few excellent ice cream places in town.

Mom is getting better and better at the burrito wrap, but I don't have it down perfect yet! And mom is still ALWAYS hot so we get to bundle this guy up for naps.

INTRODUCING Hayden

Our handsome man showed up Monday August 25 @11:10 p.m. after 13 hours of labor. Which was probably the easiest labor EVER! No one told me that you can be in labor and sleep! Dan and I are so proud of this little guy!

Mom and I got to spend so much needed time together, and she got to be at the hospital when it all went down, I loved having my mom share in such an amazing moment. She was able to wait with me while I was in labor and we caught up on a few seasons of the Office. Than she got booted out for a while, but was still able to share all the after fun! Love you MOM!



Hayden is so alert (when he is awake) He just stares into the abyss, Dan said he has got his mom scuzzes down already.

I am only into this a few days but I am totally loving it! So worth all the waiting. Hayden and I are still trying to figure each other out, but give us some time. Heavenly Father chose to give me an uncomplicated pregnancy and a happy healthy baby. I am so happy. You should see Dan get SO excited when he walks in the door and heads right for Hayden (HELLO I AM STILL HERE! jk) He has totally stepped up to the craziness of a new born. It is unreal that we are now parents, when I still feel like a kid myself. But so far this is amazing. Hayden is a wonderful addition to our family. I just want to eat up his chubby cheeks!

Fun Weekend

Heather and McKenna came out and spent the weekend with Dan and I. We had a lot of fun. On Friday night we went to the Conservatory's big illumination grand opening. It wasn't as spectacular as we were wanting, but it keep us entertained. They had a Chihuly exhibit which Dan is OBSESSED with. One of his goals is to collect a piece of his glass art(yeah it is pretty pricey, maybe when we win the lottery!) Daniel and McKenna became pretty good buddies.



We spent Saturday up at Kirkland. It was just perfect weather. Kenna gave us a little taste of having a kid around, but she is a super cute girl. We had a little picnic out by the Kirkland Temple which was so fun.

The magic of garage sales!

I know what you are thinking, "Holly's blog is turning into a BABY blog!" I know I am sorry, but that is like the only thing going on in my life right now. I hope I don't drive you all up the wall or bore you to death. But I have to tell you about this awesome adventure I had garage sale shopping. We searched forever to find that "one " crib, garage sale shopping this season. I finally found one that just stole my heart, I was so happy and with the price tag of $25, couldn't have been more pleased. So we bring it home and set it all up and get all excited to be new parents. Not even a week later Dan reads an article on the front page of MSN on crib recalls. He investigates a little more and low and behold our cute little crib has been recalled because supposedly little kids were breaking the slats and getting hurt. Believe me this crib was solid as a rock, it had to have been some kids with anger management problems to break that thing. Any way we call up the manufacture to see what we need to do. Well they informed me I turn in a few screws and bolts and sign a paper agree to never use the crib again and wa-la! I get a BRAND NEW CRIB! I brand new crib? I never even thought of that idea. They send you a voucher for the highest retail value of the crib plus sales tax which must be redeemed at babies R us. Well after a few trips to the post office, you can see below my new $25 garage sale magic! Pretty much we got like a $350 crib for $25 brand new. I thought it was totally awesome. By the way I finished my nursery this weekend after I got like a hundred comments about not having it done yet:) (remember I am about the worst procrastinator EVER) It is SO Super cute. Through out the week I will post some progress pictures, but if you are in the neighborhood you better come stop by and see it.

Baby Shower

Liz threw me a super cute shower last week. It was so fun, We met at the park and had a bbq. All the girls brought yummy food. Liz made these darling little hands and feet cookies with of course BLUE frosting. Liz is just so creative, she really has such cute ideas. She has awesome creativity. Her Hubby and mine came and played chef for the burgers which was so nice. Of course I forgot to take more pictures. But it was so nice and Jr. got spoiled. Need I say more?
